how do you install guitar pickups?
i just puchchased a DiMarzio super distortion bridge pickup and was wondering how to install it on my gibson flying v. Unlike the stock gibson bridge pickup the Super Distortion has four wires each branching out of one big main wire. there is one red wire,one black wire, one green wire, one white wire, and a bare wire while the gibson only had one bare wire. This is my first pickup that i have ever purchased and i do not know how to install it AT ALL. can anyone tell me where to sauder each wire to and which wires to remove on my guitar's circuit?
Some pickups come with several wires like this one and different pick-up manufacturers may use different colored wires. The wires are used for potential coil splitting, series/parallel options and phase switching.

As you can see, to use it as a standard humbucker, you'll solder the black and white wires together and isolate that solder joint thoroughly with tape or similar to make sure it won't get in contact with anything else.
The green and bare wire are soldered together to ground, while the red wire is hot.
Make sure you double check it yourself, just in case I have made a reading or writing error
