What is a good intermediate to advanced drum?

What is an intermediate to advanced drum good? What is the best wood for deposits and how much son? I'll play hard rock. I want drums that have a good clear sound with the claw. Do I toms superficial or deep? I have a DW Pacific that I used for many years, but I'm sick of the sound. Ive tried different heads, always sounds so dull as shit. I have good hardware / cymbals.
