Has anyone used an electronic percussion pad for theater/pit orchestra drumming?
I'm wondering if it's a good idea to get one for drumming in small pits, and when there's no real percussion instruments available. Do the percussion sounds (timpani, xylophone, aux. percussion, etc.) sound real? and if it's a good idea to get one, which one is the best (roland spd-20, spd-s, drumkat, alesis, etc)? Thanks!
all your examples are great choices. You can also buy expansion modules to add more percussion sounds if you need. The MIDI Kat is a popular choice for the mallets, and the SPD 20 is jsut a top of the line unit. MIDI it up to a keyboard or drum module if you need to, but the Roland sounds are hard to beat. (HA!!! get it?)
